Application :
Silicate mortar is buttered on acid resistance brick/tile as usual bricklayers Method. Brick/tile also should be clean, dry and at ambient temperature. After hardening of the joints, it should be treated with 10 % Hydrochloric acid before the acid resisting lining is place in use. During & after completion of lining, area must be kept dry and free from any other materials and traffic, which can affect setting & curing of Silicate mortar.
Chemical Resistance:
Silicate mortar when completely set hard, resistant to high concentration of oxidizing acids like 98% sulfuric acid, conc. nitric acid chromic acid etc., inorganic acids and salts and most organic solvents at high temperature. It is not recommended against Hydrofluoric acid, fluorides, fluoride salts, water, diluted solutions, alkalis etc.
Mixing:
Silicate mortar is prepared by mixing solution & powder to form workable mortar. The recommended ratio of mixing is 1 part solution to 3 parts powder by wt. This ratio will vary depending upon ambient temperature and working conditions. Use clean dry mixing pan. Place appropriate quantity of solution in mixing Pan, and add powder slowly and start mixing thoroughly, until you get smooth paste like mortar. Do not mix more material, then, can be used within 30 minutes.
Storage & Shelf Life:
Always keep solution and powder in cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight, moisture etc. If stored in sealed container as above, shelf life of solution: 12 Months Powder: 12 Months
Packaging Solutions:
25 kgs & 250 kgs (net) good quality MS drums. Powder: 50 kgs (net) LDPE HDPE bags.
Health & Safety:
It is advisable to wear protective wears at the time of use of silicate mortar and all other silicate mortar brand products. In case of contact with skin or eyes wash with plenty of water and consult a doctor. This information, given in good faith, is based on results gained from experience and tests. Charecteristics:
Resistant to strong oxidizing agents, acids, alkalis and bleaches and solvents. Low absorption and shrinkage. High bond, tensile and compressive strengths.Rapidly develops physical properties... initial set time is one hour at room temperature.
Surface Separation:
All surfaces in contact with vinyl ester mortar should be clean, and free of dust, dirt, grease, oil, and other contaminants. Surface prep should be in accordance with membrane requirements.
Mixing
Empty correct proportion of liquid into a clean mixing vessel. Gradually add measured amount of powder while mixing continuously with a trowel, By hand or mechanical mixer until mortar is uniformly blended to a workable consistency. After mixing, spread mortar in a thin layer in a mortar pan to ensure maximum working time of 25 minutes at 35 * C. Recommended mix ratio by weight, is Part A (Resin) 1 PBW to Part B (Filler) 5.5 PBW Material, which has begun to set, cannot be retempered and must be discarded. Never add liquid or other materials to mixed material or any component part.
Installation:
Trowel an average 1/8" thick bed joint of vinyl ester mortar directly on top of membrane or preceding course of brickwork. Apply the mortar by buttering on side and one head join of each masonry unit.Set the masonry units in place and position by tapping to form an average 1/8" wide vertical joint.

Concrete and ordinary red brick masonry with cement plastered surface are basic methods for construction of floors, foundations, tanks, sumps manholes etc. These can be attacked by corrosive environment, spillage's of acids and alkalis and other chemicals handled in modern chemical industries. To protect civil structure of plants and buildings from corrosive attack, acid resisting brick lining is most communally used method. Bitumen Mastic is used as an inter-liner with acid resisting brick lining. It can also applied as open mastic flooring for heavy- duty flooring.
Area Of Application:
Bitumen Mastic is mainly used as an impermeable inter-liner with acid resisting brick/tile lining on floors, tanks, drains, sumps. It can also applied, as open mastic flooring where diluted chemicals are to be handled and traffic is not very high.
Physical Properties:
Specific Gravity | 02/02/05 |
Softening Point(B&R Method) C | 130-140 |
Recommended Temp. Limit | 60 C |
Shelf Life | Unlimited |
Chemical Resistance:
Bitumen Mastic has good resistance to weak, diluted acids, alkalis salts etc. It is not recommended to use against strong acids, oxidizing acid solvents, oil and fats.
Method Of Application:
After doing necessary surface preparation and application of primer coating, area to be installed with Bitumen Mastic should be divided in to equal no. bays. To maintain even thickness required, place wooden or aluminum batten. Bitumen Mastic isthen broken in small pieces and put it in heating pan. While heating, keep material moving to avoid burning. It is heated until it comes in a uniform consistency and then applied on the surface and works it with wooden float, to achieve uniform thickness and smooth surface free from any pinholes.
Storage & Packing:
Keep Bitumen Mastic away from direct sunlight, heat solvents etc. Under this condition, its shelf life is unlimited. It is supplied in powder form and packing size is 40 kgs. bag.
Health & Safety:
Handle melted bitumen mastic compound very carefully . Avoid contact with skin. It is advisable to wear protective wears at the time of use of bitumen mastic and all other Bitumen mastic products. This information, given in good faith, is based on results gained from experience and tests. However, all recommendations or suggestions are made without guarantee since the conditions of use are beyond our control.

Phenolic mortar is prepared by mixing solution & powder to form a workable mortar. The recommended ratio of mixing is 1 part solution to 3 parts powder by wt. The ratio will vary depending upon ambient temperature and working conditions. Use clean, dry mixing pan. Take-out required quantity of solution and add powder to it, slowly and start mixing until you get smooth paste, free from loose powder. Do not prepare more material, then can be used within 20-30 minutes.
Application:
Phenolic mortar is buttered on clean, dry bricks or tiles, which, kept at ambient temperature. Apply little more material on center and place to avoid air pocketing while installation. If only joints are to be filled with Phenolic mortar, it is essential that full depth be filled with mortar. During & after completion of the lying of bricks or tiles, the area must be kept dry and free from any other materials and traffic, which can affect setting & curing of Phenolic mortar.
Chemical Resistance:
Phenolic mortar can provide very good protection against strong mineral acids upto 70 % and oxidizing acids, organic and fatty acids, oil, fats, and many solvents. Phenolic mortar "C" 100 % carbon filled mortar is recommended to protect against HF, fluoride salts etc.
